This mixed media mat sculpture by Artist Christoper Hill is  a facinating piece. The artist uses a multistep process to create these sculptures that can be displayed like a painting.

 

As an artist Christopher Hill is influenced by our beautiful state of Kentucky and all of the world’s natural wonder.  Trees have a spiritual connection with his imagination. They are an endless source of inspiration for the creation of his art.

Hill developed his art process on his own out of a combination of life and work experiences.  Images are taken from his imagination and drawn onto mat board.  The board is then hand-cut, texturized and painted to achieve a three-dimensional sculpture.  The resulting piece is then framed between two sheets of glass.

His work has been shown in the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, the Artcraft Collection in Maryland, The Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, The Kentucky Center for the Arts, Bernheim Forest, The Raymond Clark Gallery in South Carolina, Damsel Fly Gallery, The Kentucky State Capitol, and many other venues. Hill  lives in Louisville, Kentucky.
